Jacqueline
Aloisi de Larderel joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
in
March 1987 as the Director of the Industry and Environment Centre. She
assumed her position as Director of the Division of Technology, Industry
and Economics in 1998 and was recently appointed Assistant Executive Director.
She has been particularly active in promoting environmental management
tools and the cleaner production concept to prevent pollution and minimize
the use of natural resources.
Before joining UNEP, she was employed from 1972 to 1987 by the French
Ministry of the Environment, initially as Head of the Waste Division,
then as Deputy Director of the Pollution Prevention Directorate.
Jacqueline Aloisi de Larderel holds a Master of Science degree in Chemistry
and Pharmacology from the University of Paris and Master of Business Administration
from INSEAD. In 1986, she was decorated "Chevalier de l'Ordre National
du Mérite". In 1995, she received the Rene Dubos Center's
Environmental Award. In 2000, she was appointed to the French National
Commission on Sustainable Development.
