Biography

Daniel Puig holds a MSc in Biological Sciences and postgraduate degrees in environmental engineering (focus on water pollution) and environmental law (focus on European Union legislation). Prior to joining UNEP's Division of Technology, Industry and Economics, he worked at the Finnish National Board for Waters and the Environment (1994) and the department of environmental economics of COWI AS, an international consulting company based in Copenhagen (until 2001).

Daniel works in the development of national-level economic analyses to inform long-term planning for climate change; the analysis of emissions reduction potentials within renewable energy and energy efficiency; and the evaluation of the economic, environmental and employment impacts of selected alternative policy instruments relative to a 'baseline scenario'. In addition, he supports the head of the Energy Branch with a range of branch-wide, non-project tasks.
