CSD-9 -- Commission for Sustainable Development - Ninth Session

The ninth session of the Commission for Sustainable Development in 2001 (CSD-9) focused in part on Atmosphere and Energy issues in the context of sustainable development.

UNEP helped with the preparations for CSD-9 and provided technical advice to the Secretariat, co-organised regional meetings to help governments debate issues, prepared case studies and organised various events for the April 2001 session.

Some of the key issues that were identified for discussion during the ninth session include accessibility of energy, rural energy, financing energy sector, energy efficiency, advanced fossil and nuclear fuel technologies, renewable energy, energy-related issues in transportation and a broad range of energy issues.
