This publication, which was released in the first quarter of 2000, builds on the information provided in two previous publications: the UNEP/UNICEF/UNITAR Global Opportunities for Reducing the Use of Leaded Gasoline and the UNEP/UNICEF publication Childhood Lead Poisoning.
It includes successful programmes to phase-out lead completely in some countries as well as coordinated action of the lead industry. This information can help accelerate efforts by governments - particularly in Asian, Latin American and African countries - and industry to remove lead from gasoline.
