Purpose

Supporting the completion of a pre-exploration feasibility analysis for a geothermal power plant investment on Vanuatu.


Summary

A geothermal consultant was hired to advise the equity investor and two development banks. Once completed, the 5 MW geothermal plant would provide 60% of the power to the island, replacing diesel fuel as the principal source of energy. To further facilitate the process, UNEP is also providing third party expertise to the Vanuatu Ministry of Environment, Energy, Minerals and Water Affairs to prepare for negotiations and the tendering process.
