The 2nd Consultation Meeting

Selected members of the stakeholder group were invited to the second consultation meeting held in Paris on 6 December 2006.

During the meeting, the results of three sector studies commissioned following the first consultation meeting, which took place in February 2006, were reviewed. These studies are:

      • Assessment of financial risk management instruments for large scale renewable energy projects, by Working Group 1
      • Assessment of financial risk management instruments for small scale renewable energy projects, by Working Group 2
      • Assessment of financial risk management instruments for geothermal energy development projects, by Working Group 3

The most promising new instruments were selected to be developed through public-private approaches and TORs for pre-feasibility work that can be initiated in early 2007 were defined. The meeting also aimed to serve as a forum for knowledge exchange among various risk management specialists and renewable energy industry representatives both from the public and private sectors in OECD and GEF eligible countries. This inclusive approach should facilitate the process of development of new risk management instruments/ structures for renewable energy projects in developing countries.
