The GHG Indicator: UNEP Guidelines for Calculating Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Businesses and Non-Commercial Organisations

The Guidelines provide a step-by-step method for calculating emission of different greenhouse gases (GHGs) and then show how these can be combined to give a single GHG 'Indicator' for an organisation. The Indicator is applicable to companies regardless of their size, and at all levels from individual processes and lines of business to an entire group. It can also be used by government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other bodies interested in estimating their GHG emissions.

The Guidelines were developed in collaboration with experts from manufacturing companies, accountants, academics, consultants, environmentalists, financial institutions, government agencies and NGOs. UNEP is now turning the Guidelines into a spreadsheet to make easier the task of entering data and computing actual GHG emissions.
