Biography:
Mark Radka is the overall manager of UNEP's efforts to link the
global energy and environment agendas, much of which involves building
partnerships between industry, governments, NGOs, and other groups.
Mr. Radka has a special interest in the technology needs of developing
countries, and was a coordinating lead author of the Special Report
on Methodological and Technological Issues in Technology Transfer
issued by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Before joining UNEP, Mr. Radka worked in Washington, D.C. as a
consultant to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World
Bank, where he managed technology cooperation projects in developing
countries, primarily in Asia. His career began as a U.S. Peace Corp
volunteer in Thailand, where he designed and oversaw construction
of rural infrastructure projects while working with the Thai Government’s
Ministry of Interior.
Mr. Radka has received a Master of Public Policy degree in Environmental
Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where
he was a Kennedy Fellow. He has also received a M.S. degree in Environmental
Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a
S.B. in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
