Recycling

Environmentally sound recycling of metals and minerals can contribute to resource conservation and to protection of environmental quality in line with the concept of sustainable resource management. Conversely, badly operated recycling operations can be a major source of pollution and land contamination.


In the past UNEP has produced a number of publications and conference presentations to bring out the importance of a cleaner production approach to recycling, and to raise awareness of environmental management tools for evaluating recycling technologies.
