The CRED/OFDA International Disasters Database makes available a specialised, validated database on natural and technological disasters that facilitates preparedness, thereby reducing vulnerability to disasters and improving disaster management. The Natural Hazards Center at the University of
Colorado, Boulder is a national and international clearinghouse
for information on natural hazards and human adjustments to hazards
and disasters. The center's prime goal is to increase communication
among hazard/disaster researchers and those individuals, agencies,
and organizations that are actively working to reduce disaster damage
and suffering. The APELL team works in close co-operation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on a number of activities, and especially with the Environment Safety and Health Division and the Working Group on Chemical Accidents.
