Hazardous Waste Management

The increasing use of chemicals in all sectors of society (including the home) has resulted in many residues that have hazardous properties. UNEP has in the past focussed on improving the information available to government and private sector specialists in this field. The work has been carried out in collaboration with a variety of other organisations and experts, especially the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and the Secretariat of the Basel Convention. Training manuals and guidance documents on hazardous waste management (incorporating also cleaner production) include in particular:

Training Resource Pack on Hazardous Waste Management for Economically Developing Countries (CD-ROM)
UNEP/ISWA/SBC (2002)

Manual de Formación en Gestion de Residuos Peligrosos para Países en Vías de Desarrollo (CD-ROM)
PNUMA/ISWA/SCB (2004)
